Riverbend Playmat
Make a soft, handmade landscape from wool, warm water, and soap. This beginner-friendly playmat has just two main features: a green meadow and a winding river. Once it is dry, add little animals, stones, sticks, and other small treasures and let Riverbend become a place for play. Wet felting is a longer project and can take several hours, so children do not need to be there for the whole process. They can join in for many of the hands-on parts, though. Pulling apart wool, choosing colours, adding the landscape, rubbing, rolling, kneading, and working the felt with their hands all make this a lovely sensory experience.
